Female Professionals in Supply Chain Management: An Interview

Iranzu San Martin, Regional Sales Manager for Spain discusses her career development within the electronics industry and adapting to a different role at Rebound Electronics.

Tell us a bit about yourself & your time at Rebound

I joined Rebound at the end of 2019, but my career started 24 years ago. My previous job was at a CEM company, where I worked for 10 years in the technical office and another 10 years in the purchasing department.

During the summer of 2019, I received the opportunity to join Rebound and after considering it carefully, I leapt into the new challenge in sales. Just a few months later, Covid arrived. After such a life altering experience, we lived in a shortage period with a fast-paced work rhythm.

Can you share a unique or interesting fact about yourself?

I’m a mum of two teenage girls, which is definitely the hardest challenge in life haha! I love nature and I’m lucky to live in a small town in Basque Country, North of Spain, where we can enjoy hiking or biking in our green mountains, or swimming in the sea. I also love traveling with my family, getting to know new places and their culture.

What has been your biggest achievement whilst working at Rebound?

I used to be a buyer, so working in sales was a huge challenge for me. I had to change to the opposite side of the process. Since working at Rebound, with hard work, training, and the support of the team around me, I’ve been achieving my objectives step by step.

Are there any challenges that you have faced being a woman working in the electronics industry? If so, how have you overcome them?

As I’ve mentioned previously, all my working life and my studies had been related to the electronics industry. Of course, I’ve faced some situations just because I’m a woman, but most probably as women do in any type of industry. Personally, I’ve been very lucky with people I’ve met in my professional life.

What advice would you give to young women looking to pursue a career in this industry?

If you feel that working in the industry is what you enjoy and it motivates you, go for it. Of course, you will need to study, train, be updating constantly. And in general, for any kind of career, do not set limits for yourself, and try to constantly be learning from others.
