Employee Spotlight: Jamie Lewis, Director of Global Marketing

Leading global marketing at Rebound, Jamie’s non-traditional career path has brought a unique perspective and depth to the role. Driven by creativity, a desire to learn and dedication, Jamie shares how his career journey shaped his leadership style, built a successful team and continues to grow and shape Rebound’s brand presence across the globe.

What initially drew you to marketing?

Creativity first attracted me to marketing; no two days are the same. One day, you’re producing a video; the next, you’re finalising the design of a new website or collaborating on a campaign launch. I’ve always enjoyed the variety in my work, and marketing delivers that in abundance.

I also loved the idea of being at the centre of a business, working across departments, and gaining insight into the wider organisation. It gives you a unique perspective and helps you connect the dots in ways others may not. And let’s be honest, marketing is often seen as the „cool“ department, and I wanted to be part of that energy!

What did your path into the industry look like?

My path into marketing was anything but traditional, and that’s what makes it unique. At 16, I started out inspecting PCBs, moved into Telecoms, and took on project management roles. Eventually, I transitioned into marketing with a company that was part of the Rebound Group.

Just six months in, I was asked to move to Rebound to set up and lead global marketing for the group. At that point, it was very much „learn as you go“ combined with much self-study outside of work. During COVID, evenings and weekends became my time to dive deep and develop my marketing knowledge.

I’ve always believed that everyone gets at least one shot at turning an opportunity into something special. The hard part is recognising it and acting on it. Marketing quickly became more than a job; it became part of who I am.

How does your background influence the way you lead and build your team?

Because of my own journey, I’ve always prioritised attitude and personality over experience on paper. Building a strong marketing team at Rebound has meant looking for people who are curious, driven, and open to learning, even if some don’t come from a traditional marketing background.

Our team now stands at four, with significant collaboration from other business areas. Work ethic is the foundation of success; skills can be taught, but a strong drive and willingness to learn truly set someone apart.

What career milestone stands out to you?

For me, the most meaningful milestone isn’t a personal promotion or title; it’s what we’ve achieved as a team at Rebound. I’m most proud of watching the brand evolve across different channels, seeing the impact our marketing has had on business growth, and being part of a transformation that’s taken the company to new heights.

We’re just getting started. There are some exciting projects in the pipeline, and I’m genuinely excited about what’s next.

What skills or perspectives have you gained from taking a less conventional route?

I feel that taking a non-traditional route into marketing has been a considerable advantage for me. Everyone is different, but I’ve been free to think outside the box, take creative risks, and approach challenges with a different perspective.

Because I didn’t come into this role and industry with a list of „best practices“ or constraints, I’ve been able to take ideas from a rough sketch on paper and turn them into campaigns that stand out in the industry. That freedom has allowed me to bring something different to the table – a mindset I encourage across the team.
